Please be advised that the City Docks site will be closed starting September 9, 2025, due to scheduled construction work. The closure is expected to last for the duration of the construction timeline, estimated at two years (August 2027).

We appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we work to improve our community infrastructure. Updates will be provided as the project progresses. Check out the Construction Updates photos as the project progresses.

A ground-breaking ceremony was held September 8, 2025 to kick-off the project.



Construction Updates

The City Docks Redevelopment project will be constructed over the next two years. Ben M. Radcliff Contractor, Inc. will be leading the construction activities. When complete, the City of Bayou La Batre will have the following features:

  • 4-lane boat ramp

  • 100 parking for trucks-trailers

  • 240 single cars parking spaces for community events

  • 100-slip marina

  • Fixed dock for seafood sales

  • Marine fueling station

  • 4200 square foot multi-use building

  • 2-pavillons

  • greenspace for community events.

The Bayou La Batre City Docks Redevelopment Project (City Docks Project) is an opportunity to revitalize the City Docks. The goal is to meet current and future economic, environmental, and recreational needs by planning sustainable retail and commercial developments and recreational opportunities that support eco-tourism and fishing industries. The City Docks Project provides a means for developing amenities that attract both locals and tourists while showcasing Bayou La Batre’s small-town coastal atmosphere and historical heritage as the ‘Seafood Capital of Alabama’.

Phase 1: Analysis, Feasibility, and Master Plan
(Complete)

Phase 2: Engineering and Design: Permitting
(Complete)

  • 100% design is complete.

Phase 3: Construction

  • Contractor, Ben M. Radcliff, Inc, to construct project over a two year period, to be completed August 2027.
